This is the final session of the four-part Developing Trauma-Sensitive Classrooms series, designed to help educators understand and implement evidence-based practices to support students and educators experiencing trauma. This session focused on promoting educator self-care. After reviewing the session video and exploring the session resources, educators will have increased understanding of:

  • The importance of educator self-care and the impact of secondary traumatic stress.
  • The signs that they or fellow educators are experiencing secondary traumatic stress.
  • Needs-assessment tools to guide planning for implementation of educator self-care practices.
  • Strategies to address secondary traumatic stress and to promote educator self-care.

This series was originally developed with and delivered to educators and administrators in Marshall County Schools, Kentucky. These materials were used in the second year of the project.
