Time: 1:00-2:00 p.m. CT
Location: Virtual
Description: School connectedness, a student's belief that peers and adults in the school support, value, and care about their individual well-being as well as their academic progress, has been shown by the CDC to be an important protective factor that promotes the health and well-being of students.
This webinar, hosted by Student Engagement and Attendance Center (SEAC), funded by the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education, and REL Midwest, is intended for state and district level teams and will feature strategies that promote student belonging and connectedness. The event will also cover ways that these concepts can be measured and used to make data-informed school improvement decisions. Additionally, REL Midwest and a school leader from Akron Public Schools will discuss the Making Equitable Schools Audit (MESA) approach for high schools. MESA is a yearlong facilitated and collaborative approach designed to help schools use existing data and leverage community-wide relationships to move toward more equitable experiences to improve student belonging and connectedness.
