Home Events Improving Mathematical Proficiency Among African American Boys in Seattle Public Schools, Session 1
Northwest | January 29, 2024
In the first training and coaching session of the series, REL Northwest and Seattle Public Schools will begin work to identify whether the district is making progress in reducing differences in math outcomes for middle grade African American male students. In this session, REL Northwest will guide the district team in understanding and revising a driver diagram—a visual display of inputs leading to a goal—for improving math proficiency for African American boys in grades 5–7. After developing relationships within the team, REL Northwest and Seattle Public Schools will establish a shared goal and theory of improvement for the driver diagram. Next, they will identify measures that the district already uses that can help achieve this goal.
