Home Resource Mathematics Research Summaries: Standards, Content, and Pathways
REL Northwest developed a set of mathematics literature reviews to summarize research and provide an evidence base for the development of rigorous K–12 mathematics standards and instructional content. The three reviews respond to key themes regarding foundational mathematics content, process standards (how students learn and apply mathematical concepts), and high school mathematics pathways for college and career readiness. Each review has an accompanying annotated bibliography that details the sources for additional research.
REL Northwest compiled this research in response to the Montana Office of Public Instruction's (OPI's) request for evidence-based research to inform its revision of state mathematics standards. By increasing capacity of the standards writing team to apply research, OPI aims to create math standards that better reflect emerging understanding of how to support all students in mathematics.
