Pacific | August 05, 2024 - August 09, 2024
Natasha Saelua shares about REL Pacific in a co-presentation with Director Margarita Cholymay at the Chuuk Education Conference.
Chuuk Education Conference
The Chuuk Department of Education’s (CDOE) Chuukese Culture-Driven Curriculum (CCDC) initiative is designed to help uplift and prioritize Indigenous Chuukese culture in the classroom. In this joint presentation at the 2024 Chuuk Education Conference, REL Pacific and CDOE facilitators introduced attendees to the CCDC, provided an overview of a REL-supported project to develop a culturally sustaining instructional model to accompany the CCDE, and demonstrated how the CCDC can be taught in the classroom, guided by a lesson plan based on the culturally sustaining instructional model.
