Home Events AIIM Evaluation Planning Session 3: Drafting Survey and Plan for Pretesting
Southwest | May 10, 2024
Time: 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Central Time
Location: Virtual
Through a series of virtual coaching sessions, REL Southwest is building the capacity of Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) staff to conduct a formative evaluation of the Arkansas Initiative for Instructional Materials (AIIM). During this session, REL Southwest and ADE will work together to develop a working draft of the implementation survey, review best practices for pretesting the survey, and create a plan for pretesting. REL Southwest will propose the survey item bank and format and will work with ADE to prioritize and refine items for inclusion in the survey. The participants will group items in the appropriate order (as they should appear on the survey), discuss survey logic and the skip patterns that may be appropriate, work on making the format of the survey items consistent and easy to follow, and draft instructions and definitions where needed. Next, REL Southwest will present on best practices for pretesting a survey by gathering systematic feedback from a variety of stakeholders and conducting cognitive interviews to assess the clarity and completeness of the draft survey. By the end the session, ADE will have a first draft of the survey and plans to conduct pretesting activities for feedback on the survey.
