Washington Rural Alliance for Blended Learning

Regional Educational Laboratory Northwest and the Rural Alliance aim to increase the capacity of leaders in small, rural districts to design and facilitate online or blended learning opportunities. To achieve this goal, the partnership aims to build knowledge of evidence-based practices in online and blended programs by providing coaching and training to leaders in rural districts and capturing guidance that can be disseminated and used statewide.

Partnership organization: The Rural Alliance (Washington)

Completed Projects

REL Northwest delivered a series of trainings to Rural Alliance partners – mostly leaders from eastern Washington rural school districts – to increase understanding and inform decisions and actions to strengthen the region's online and blended programs. The Rural Alliance aims to improve student access to course offerings associated with college and career readiness and success.

For the Washington Rural Alliance partnership, REL Northwest and members of the Rural Alliance used research and evidence to select, implement, and evaluate the use of technology to support learning and engagement in their districts. In this 2024 project, REL Northwest provided coaching to districts as they selected technology that was meaningful in the rural context, designed infrastructures to integrate new technologies with existing resources, and developed implementation and evaluation plans to ensure tech-enhanced learning is effective.
